The class of '69 had their 40th year reunion at the Rosenberger Center on campus this past October. It was the best alumni representation of our class since graduation. Everyone stood and mingled for the 2 hours of fellowship and didn't realize that there were seats and tables to sit down at. It was a grand reunion of getting reacquainted with classmates that haven't seen each other for some over 30+ years. Time seemed to escape us and before we expected it was time for our class picture. Our conversation revolved around grandchildren, family updates, work, faith, and life changes. Some have already retired and others continue in the same employment since graduation.Others have changed their vocation several times. Updates of family pictures along with old pictures were shared and lots of reminiscing of old times was on topic. All and all the atmosphere was one of celebration and fellowship and a wonderful time had by all.
A unique happening for me was an invitation by Henry Landis to join the class reunion celebration of 1964 that was happening down the hall from ours. My brother David Hackman was tragically killed the summer before his junior year at CDHS and would have been celebrating with this his class but I was invited in his stead. The time spent together brought some healing for me and Jane Bishop Halteman who was Dave's girlfriend at the time of his death. Through the sharing some enlightenment was given to bring much needed understanding after 44 years of almost daily awareness of the absence of a best friend who was snatched away so suddenly without reason. I thank God for the unexpected favor of being able to shed tears with those who cared and understood some degree of my broken heart.
